Mainie Jellett (1897 – 1944) was one of Ireland’s finest painters of the 20th century. She was part of the explosion of ‘Modernism’ of 1920’s Europe and was a notable contributor to the ‘Art Deco’ movement that revolutionised thinking in design, colour and composition.

The rugs are all made on site at our workshop in Wexford, Ireland using 100% finest New Zealand wools. Highly trained craftsmen ensure the highest quality and a truly bespoke service. With a hand-tufting machine, yarns are shot into the fabric until the entire surface forms a dense pile. Then they are carefully shorn for the luxurious smooth finish that truly distinguishes a Ceadogán rug.

‘Mainie Jellett’s rug show, in their shapes and colours, in the magical balance of material content, a unique rightness of vision. This is what makes her work unique, her life successful in a non-material, creative sense. She confronts us magnificently in the surfaces she created.’ Bruce Arnold.
