Martina Navratilova, native to Czech Republic, is an artist and joined Ceadogán’s team in 2018. Martina is a key part of the team behind the day-to-day running of Ceadogán Rugmakers. She plays a central role in planning,  scheduling, selecting yarns and co-ordinating the rug making process.

Her new collection ‘Cladach’ is inspired by findings from our local beaches and waterways. These tiny fragments of the coastal landscape smoothed and shaped by time are the workings of the tides, winds, and all that surrounds. It is often the smaller details and patterns in nature which manifest either consciously or subconsciously in the designs which we surround ourselves with in our daily lives.

Growing up in Brno during the transition from communism to democracy, Martina witnessed a city undergoing remarkable change. Its enduring architectural heritage, particularly its Art Nouveau and Modernist buildings, remained a constant source of inspiration. Landmarks such as Vila Tugendhat and Villa Löw-Beer continue to inform her appreciation of architecture, design, colour and place.
