You might have heard about “Island”  by now, our group exhibition opening on  the 26th January at 6pm in Hang Tough Contemporary gallery on Exchequer Street, Dublin. Galway poet Rita Ann Higgins will perform a reading and there will be  a few words from the Peter McVerry Trust, it promises to be a wonderful evening.

Theres lots more info on the exhibition, and all that we have planned in some of our earlier stories here and on our instagram. We have a little extra news to add though. A small surprise.

We are in uncharted waters with this show in that we have never had an exhibition of this particular kind before. Neither have we sold our rugs in charitable auction before. So here it is. A chance to win one of our “Soft Landing” rugs. (More on these in our last story

“Soft Landing #1 is tufted in hemp/wool yarn and designed by Martina Navratilova.

The first of our “For the Birds” series it is a beautifully soft and sculptural piece. It is a unique one off rug and will not be reproduced.

We will hold a draw for this rug on February 5th and announce the lucky winner on Monday 6th February, entry to the draw costs only €20 and you will recieve a copy of our “Island” booklet included in the price.

They are beautifully printed by Plusprint with a little information on all the artists, the brief, and a short piece on “For the Birds” not to mention some super imagery and artwork. Its a first for us, and entries can be made in the Hang tough Contemporary Gallery or online here.

We think its an opportunity not to be missed! This show has been been over a year in the making and we are so excited to open next Thursday. We look forward seeing who comes along.  50% of all profits will go to the Peter McVerry Trust. We have huge respect for all the work that they do and were honoured to have met Father McVerry himself here yesterday when hanging the finished pieces. This year marks the 40th year that the Peter McVerry Trust has been working to support the homeless and marginalised in society. A very worthy cause.

If you would like to enter the draw you can follow the link below where you can enter your details and purchase your ticket. We will send your booklet by post. Alternatively you can come visit the exhibition and pick up your copy there.

Huge gratitude to all the artists who took part, to Rubio in Hang Tough Contemporary for all the help, to Ian at Whytes Auctioneers, to John in Culture Head, and to every one who helped us make this a reality.

Hope to see you all on Thursday!!!
