Colm grew up in the yard at Barrystown and has witnessed its evolution over the years. After studying Furniture Design, he completed an apprenticeship with Conservation Letterfrack in Connemara, where he worked as a furniture conservator for several years. He later established Nós Conservation Ltd., which has been based in the yard at Barrystown since 2011.

His work in furniture restoration developed a deep knowledge of materials, traditional skills, textiles and upholstery. On returning to his homeplace in 2011, this connection with craft and making naturally led him towards rug making. Today, his work brings together conservation, craftsmanship and contemporary design, creating pieces that are rooted in traditional making while responding to the places and stories that inspire them.
